media rants: Mr Plankton

Just like any Korean drama, Mr Plankton had me crying every 5 minutes in the last 2 episodes.

From the very first scene, the show highlights how life is a limited treasure that we cannot waste. It highlights the idea of nature vs nurture through the two main leads. Their circumstances are so different in terms of where they're initially leading their lives, showing how you are the one steering the ship. You are the one deciding your fate. You are the only one who can take ownership of your life, and where you will lead it.

But, not all journeys have to be done alone.

The two main characters' journey shows how journeys can be done alone, but they are always better together. However, be wary of who you trust as you can never truly know someone. One of my notes whilst watching the series is as follows *spoiler alert for the rest of this paragraph*: 'busan guy - empathetic, treated them like family even though they jyst met'. If you've watched the series, my notes could not be more wrong.

If you are able to find those people to journey along life with though, hold them close, treasure the moments together and what they have done for you. You never know when something might happen and you are physically unable to do something or live for much longer.

My own life right now looks relatively dim compared to my past few years. I feel unaccomplished as I'm unemployed right now, have moved back to my family home, have no romantic relationship or big achievements compared to my peers. Whilst I could look at life dimly, this drama really forced me to change my grey-tinted glasses to see clearly how in many ways my life is great and there are ways that I can make the most of it despite it not being where I want it to be right now.
