Food Guide to Point Cook

As someone who's lived in Point Cook their entire life, the Point Cook food scene can be very boring if you don't go to the right places. With the recent opening and expansion of of numerous shopping centres, the Point Cook food scene has become something worth trying.

If you're sick and tired of going to the same two Maccas, here are 3 places in Point Cook that are definitely worth trying!

Mun Korean Kitchen

KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN - one of the many joys to my life. Whether you just love fried chicken in general, are a k-drama geek or wanna join the hype Mun Korean Kitchen is the place for you. Located at the Williams Landing Shopping Centre, Mun is an authentic Korean restaurant, popular for their fried chicken (soy-garlic is my personal favourite) as well as other Korean dishes such as a variety of bulgogi meat, japchae and corn cheese, arguably the best thing to ever exist.

With the simple wood and concrete interior design, Mun is perfect atmosphere for getting together with friends and is definitely one of those restaurants where you want to dine in large groups. You can order a wider range of dishes and flavours at a lower cost.

Fresh Chilli

Fresh Chilli is one of those classic restaurants that everyone in Point Cook will recommend to you. Located next to Aircraft Station, Fresh Chilli is a family friendly Thai restaurant perfect for take away, nights out with the gang or the family and for special events (however note that if you are doing take away you may have to wait for 30 minutes upwards due to the restaurant being so popular).

You know those restaurants where you just order the same thing over, and over again despite having so many things on the menu? That's my family for you when it comes to Fresh Chilli. Every. Single. Time. We order the Chicken Pad Thai and sometimes the Fish Fillet with ginger sauce if we're looking to spice things ups. However, if you're overwhelmed by the amount of choice, definitely try the banquet menu from $30-$35 pp. With a variety of dishes and being very generous sizes, I can assure you that you're gonna find something that suits your taste buds.

Happy Hot Pot

Now I've never been a fan of Hot Pot due to previous experiences, so you can imagine my groaning and whining to my parents when they dragged me here for a family dinner. However, as you can probably tell, I was very surprised. The ingredients were well presented, giving off a grocery store vibe so you can see all your options and I was very glad to be able to reminisce over my childhood in Singapore - including things such as fish balls.

Happy Hot Pot, located at the Featherbrook Shopping Centre is very accomodating for those with dietary requirements - their selection of ingredients and soup catering to those who are vegan, vegetarian, can handle or not handle spicy. If you're looking to have something authentic I suggest taking the spicy soup (there's two levels for those who want it EXTRA hot). With the pricing based on the weight of your ingredients, Happy Hot Pot is an affordable place for those wanting to have a full stomach but not break the bank.

If you've tried any of these places, or have any other recommendations let me know. Always looking for an excuse to not start my diet!
