Things that I wanna do (but haven't started)

Goal Setting. I have done my fair share of goal setting - I tried New Year Resolutions I don't know how many years ago (and wrote a blog post to hold myself accountable). And even though I didn't end up exercising everyday, I did end up eating healthier and I discovered the type of goal setting that works for me. And sadly, that doesn't consist of pledges to exercise everyday.

Going back to what I want to discuss,  it's the things that I want to do but haven't started (you probably already saw that in the title) aka things that I'm procrastinating. For one reason or another I have been putting off these ideas and thought that it's the perfect opportunity to start these projects/courses being in our second lockdown in Melbourne.

Invest

The idea of investing always interested me especially after playing the ASX Sharemarket Game during my economics class so for my 18th birthday, I asked for money so that I can invest. I have made an investment and superannuation account but I have not put money into them. It's most likely not even that hard of a task but for some random reason I haven't bitten the bullet and put in the money.

Coding

I can't believe I'm saying this. If you didn't know, I'm Filipino, my sister and I have a joke that *every* Filipino either works in IT or nursing... and my family is definitely not excluded from that. Both my parents are in IT, majority of my maternal cousins (those who aren't are in dentistry... so close enough) and literally all their parters (but one) work in IT and because of this, my sister and I do not want to go into IT. However, I have to admit during this day and age, coding is an important and useful skill especially considering that I want to make a business (no idea what, it's just a dream) and learning to code will definitely be an advantage.

Making Jewellery

This post is full of irony because it's ironic that I do not wear jewellery at all. But I was very inspired when I took some photos of interviewees for a project where one of them made earrings for fun, and another did it as a business. I also found a beaded earring kit hanging around and thought it was the perfect opportunity to take on a fun, creative project.

Learning Korean

Languages are fun to learn and it's so interesting how people communicate by making different sounds- and I should probably stop here before I go down a spiral. I'm currently learning French at school, I've tried learning Mandarin and Spanish on my own but the main barrier I found was the lack of effective and free resources for self-learning. I used Duolingo for Spanish and I use it for French but I find that it doesn't teach you the grammar rules. I tried HelloChinese and Duolingo for Mandarin but one thing I find is that your listening and speaking skills develop but your reading and writing don't because you don't solely focus on learning and memorising the characters. I really liked Memrise for this reason when I was first inspired to learn Mandarin but I had to pay to continue to use it... and I don't have the funds to do that.

Yesterday, during my mindless scrolling and procrastinating I found a post that linked a Korean language blog that had links to textbooks and workbooks and you can bet that I screamed hallelujah! (internally). Languages are useful skills and it allows you to communicate and open your mind to new places, people and experiences.

Hope this gave you some inspiration or a little push to do things that you've always wanted to do - stay safe, and stay healthy!
